Welcome to Wetherby Folk Chorale

Wetherby is a singing town. At the last count, there were about nine different choirs operating locally – covering a wide range of musical styles and genres from Barbershop to Parish Church and a more classical repertoire.   The Folk Chorale, formed in 2012, is the 'new kid on the block' – and doing very well, thank you!

Membership is hovering around the 25 mark and both our repertoire and ability levels are improving steadily.

We are becoming a recognised and welcome part of the local musical community and we enjoy a positive local presence.
The Chorale is a very sociable and fun experience – we are not a stuffy and pretentious group of old ‘finger in the ear’ folkies with rigid views of what constitutes the right (and wrong) songs to sing. Wherever our members come from and whatever skills and experience they already have, the primary aim of the Chorale is to enjoy the adventure of singing together from a wide palette of styles and influences. There are no prescriptive ‘must haves’ and ‘must do’s’ and very few stylistic constraints.

We are always pleased to welcome new members and any potential members need not be put off by an inability to read music or by feeling that their voice isn’t good or strong enough. The Chorale is about making music together in an atmosphere of good humour, positive involvement and shared interest.  If you are interested in joining us then please do get in touch via our Contact page and we'll ensure there's someone ready to welcome you when you arrive.

Best wishes – and thanks for looking in.
